The Mechanical Engineer II is a broad role that requires working on a variety of engineering programs in the Themed Entertainment Industry supporting Ride and Show systems. The role works on projects for large and small customers to meet the customers timelines. The Mechanical Engineer II works in a team environment to understand each customer’s unique needs and will perform independent project tasks and collaborate with customers and team members. This position is located in Allen Park, MI.
As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will:
- Collaborate with designers to produce 3D designs for mechanical equipment in an accurate and timely manner under the supervision of the lead engineer or supervisor
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis as needed for design efforts and projects.
- Read, analyze, interpret, and create technical documents, engineering drawings, and engineering documentation
- Manage the quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness of designs
- Present and communicate progress, challenges, and next steps to customers, stakeholders and team members
- Interface with internal and external customers and vendors to ensure satisfactory technical requirements and schedules
- Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure new, and current customer demands and standards are met
To be considered as a Mechanical Engineer II, you will need:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of complex mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical motors and actuators).
- Functional proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, SolidWorks or Siemens NX Unigraphics (UG)
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical data to various audiences
- Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide robust solutions to complex problems in a timely and cost-effective manner
A successful candidate may also have:
- 3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
- Industry internships, SAE International competition experience (Formula SAE, Baja SAE, enterprise programs)
- Knowledge of DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), DVPs (Design Verification Plan), DFM (Design for Manufacturing), FEA (Finite Element Analysis), OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) release systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamic evaluations
- Knowledge of 2D drawing development and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) application and bolted and welded joint applications
- Proficiency in software suites CATIA, PROe (Pro/Engineer), or MATLAB
