Heavy-Duty Wrecker and Lowboy Driver

The Heavy-Duty Wrecker and Lowboy Driver will recover disabled vehicles and transport concept and prototype vehicles. Heavy-Duty Wrecker and Lowboy Driver will comply with all applicable rules and regulations and follow specialized instructions as needed. The role will also assist in testing equipment and components as needed.
As a Heavy-Duty Wrecker & Lowboy Driver, you will be responsible for:
- Recovery of disabled commercial vehicles
- Safely and efficiently operating a heavy-duty wrecker and lowboy in their full capacity
- Transport of non-running concept, prototype vehicles and show quality vehicles and ensuring the vehicle appearance meets customer expectations
- Loading and unloading of lowboy trailers with oversized or heavy loads and specialty vehicles
- Complying with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations
- Observing all posted traffic signs and drive safely with flow of traffic
- Complying with all applicable local traffic laws
- Following any procedures or work instructions provided for assigned projects
- Assisting engineering in testing concept and prototype components
To be considered as a Heavy-Duty Wrecker and Lowboy Driver, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent education
- A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A) and have an excellent driving record with the ability to pass our MVR standards
- To be able to pass a DOT physical examination, DOT drug screen and criminal background check
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving a heavy-duty wrecker and lowboy including hauling heavy and oversized loads in the mountains and inclement weather conditions (rain / snow / ice) safely
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle weight displacement, limitations, and capabilities, when operating a heavy-duty wrecker or lowboy
- Knowledge of applicable laws related to the operation of the vehicle to ensure all necessary licensing and permitting is in compliance
- Good sense of direction with the ability to read maps and follow and take driving direction
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% for extended periods of time utilizing sleeper cab or hotels
- Ability to sit and drive for up to 11 hours per shift
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
